A TRANSPARENT SUITCASE.

At IMPACKT, we want to combine a sense of responsibility and the joy of travelling. For us, this vision starts at the very beginning, during production. We work to a large extent with recycled post-consumer plastic and are extremely resource-conserving. We also ensure the greatest possible transparency, even with complex supply structures.

Our suitcases are manufactured in Asia. Together with a long-standing production partner of the travelite family and a specialist in the recycling of plastics, we have developed the most stable mixture of recycled and new material especially for the IP1. The manufacturers of our recycled plastic granulate for the shell and lining are located in the immediate vicinity of the IP1 production site. This means that the supply chains remain controllable and as short as possible.

We source and process our recycled fabrics exclusively from factories that are certified according to the Global Recycle Standard (GRS). So everything has the best IMPACKT.

To the product

RESOURCE-SAVING: RECYCLING.

IMPACKT IP1 is mainly made of materials derived from recycled post-consumer plastic waste. 100% of the inner lining in fact, and 46% of the shells.

By using these plastics, we reduce the burden of existing and future plastic waste and reduce the production and consumption of new plastic. IMPACKT IP1 adds significantly less additional plastic (and thus potential plastic waste) to the environment than a comparable product that isn't made of recycled content. This saves resources. With every IP1 case, the plastic flood actually becomes a little smaller. Now and in the future!

BOTTLES BECOME A CASE

Step-by-step recycling process from plastic waste to a suitcase: 1) Collection of plastic waste, 2) Cleaning and processing into granulate, 3) Mixing with pigments, 4) Moulding of the suitcase shell, 5) Finished IMPACKT suitcase ready for use.

WHAT LINING AND SHELL ARE MADE OF:

Our lining eats plastic.

The lining of our IMPACKT IP1 suitcases is made of 100% recycled polyethylene terephthalate (PET). It may sound strange, but you've held it in your hand many times: plastic bottles, but also packaging for fresh vegetables and clothes are made from it.

PET is a polyester, an artificial plastic fibre. This material offers many advantages for our lining: It is durable, tear-resistant, hard-wearing and does not crease. In addition, polyester is not only very recycable, the quality of recycled polyester is equivalent to new. In addition, the production of recycled polyester is significantly more environmentally friendly than producing new. It requires 59% less energy and greenhouse gas emissions are reduced by 32%.

We process an average of 22 PET bottles of 0.5 litres each for the lining of an IP1 size L. So far, we have already recycled about 119,000 PET bottles.

Durable. Shatterproof. Recycled.

We use polypropylene (PP) for the shell of our IMPACKT, which is one of the most widely produced and used materials in the world. The medical and food industries use it for containers or packaging, for example. Polypropylene has also become an integral part of washing machines and many car parts nowadays.

We use the material for the case shell of the IMPACKT IP1 because it is highly resistant and durable, weighs very little and is very easy to recycle.
Together with our partners, we have therefore developed an exclusive material mix that maximises the recycled content without compromising our uncompromising requirements for durability. This allows us to save a large amount of energy and resources. The result: the shell of the IMPACKT IP1 is made from 46% recycled polypropylene and is robust, lightweight and designed for maximum durability.

The IMPACKT IP1 size L contains approx. 1 kg of recycled polypropylene. Plastic that no longer pollutes the environment. But can become your faithful travelling companion.

MINIMAL WASTE. MAXIMUM LIFETIME.

Waste is generated during every production process. The same applies to ours. That’s why we are constantly optimising our processes and consistently recycling production waste. The most important means of reducing waste: a durable and repairable product.l, um Abfall zu reduzieren: ein langlebiges und reparierbares Produkt.

The remnants from the pre-cut part are recycled for new cases.

Many add-on parts are repairable – if something breaks, the case probably doesn't have to be disposed of immediately.

ANIMALS DO NOT BELONG IN A CASE.

Together with our partner Peta, we checked it for animal substances. The result: an animal-free suitcase. We paid particular attention to the adhesives used. Unfortunately, they often contain animal components.

WE PREFER TO TRAVEL WITH A CLIMATE-FRIENDLY PARTNER.

Through conscious CO2 management, IMPACKT has already become an operationally climate-conscious brand. We offset our current CO2 emissions by supporting the "Clean Drinking Water" project in Sierra Leone.

With ClimatePartner we have now found a new partner who supports us in our CO2 management and accompanies us on our way to a more climate-friendly world.

IMPACKT IN PERSPECTIVE.

Our cases should be as sustainable as possible. Even though we have already achieved a lot, there are still some projects that we want to tackle or optimise in the future.
A dense tropical rainforest with tall trees and a river flowing through it. Mist hovers over the forest.

Many case components are not yet made from recycled or environmentally friendly materials. These include the handle, the wheels and the frame. We already use a large proportion of post-consumer recycled plastic for the case shell and 100% for the lining. Our ambition is to further increase the proportion of recycled and environmentally friendly materials.

We obtain the raw material for the recycled materials exclusively from household waste. But plastic waste is not just there. That is why we are working on tapping into further 'sources of supply'.

Together with our partner Planetly, we are already supporting the “Clean Drinking Water" project in Sierra Leone. The aim is to reduce diseases caused by contaminated water. In the future, we also want to generate impact with our own projects.

As you can see, there is still work to be done. However, we are already very proud of what we have achieved. With a larger product range and many new ideas, we want to improve our IMPACKT every day. So that the road to the future becomes a sustainable journey.
